Since the late 90s, gamers have lamented that they no longer create point-and-click adventure games. The golden age of LucasArts games like Monkey Island was over and gamers moved on to a simpler, less cerebral fare.
Thankfully, the boom in smartphone gaming has seen, if not a full-scale resurgence, then certainly a rekindled niche in the humble point-and-click adventure market. They’re often associated with other genres, such as storytelling games and puzzles, but the DNA is there for everyone to see.
What are point and click adventure games?
If you’ve never played a point-and-click adventure game before, typical ingredients include the emphasis on puzzles and dialogue over action. Such games tend to have at their heart an elaborate chain of cause and effect puzzles involving the unlikely interaction and combination of several elements.
Relaxing with a point-and-click fortune-telling is sort of the video game equivalent of curling up with a good book. You sit down, tune your brain to another frequency, and step into another world.
