What are you watching on Netflix right now?

Adventure comedy directed by Ryan Reynolds, friendly and family The Adam ProjectMeanwhile, the streaming site released “The Biggest Movie Release” this week.

Walker Scobell, left, as ‘Young Adam’ Ryan Reynolds ‘Big Adam’ The new Netflix movie is out now ‘The Adam Project’. Image source: Doane Greg/Netflix

You can read all about it in a separate article, but I’ll just say here that I enjoyed this movie immensely. This is a big-hearted action-comedy about love and heartbreak that ends in a sci-fi package.

The film’s best praise probably comes from the many users who messaged Reynolds on Twitter. The same people shared their experiences with the film, including how it helped them deal with grief. “Young Adam” as well as “Big Adam” by Reynolds do it because his father died.

More Great Beginnings

We’ve also covered viewer reactions to the news this week. Weekend, a movie that quickly topped the streamer’s charts but achieved abysmal ratings. Let’s talk about other releases this week to give you an idea of what’s available on Netflix.

The Last Kingdom: On Wednesday, the long-awaited fifth season of this Netflix favorite was released. The image at the top is the result of the show. Friday was still the #1 TV series in America. In fact, there are so many fans around The Last KingdomThousands of people have signed. Petition Change.orgCall for the show not to stop.

Pirates and the Last Royal TreasureNetflix has provided its Korean-speaking subscribers with a steady stream of amazing content. The streamer continued that trend this week with the release of this action-packed movie. As for Netflix’s summary of this new pirate-focused movie, here’s what the streamer gives us. “A daring crew of Joseon pirates and bandits battle stormy waters, confusing clues, and militant rivals in search of the lost gold at sea.”

Note a reviewer from Rotten Tomatoes “I hesitated with other pirate movies because most of them are failed epic versions of Pirates of the Caribbean. But this movie surpassed that. It’s better than what I expected. He delivers the film quite well. Adventure, action, comedy and romance all rolled into one.

TV shows about video games seem to be growing in popularity right now, with the witcher get another season, the Halo tv show around the corner and talk about a It takes two The TV show begins to heat up.

While a sudden burst of video game TV shows might surprise you with “Video game movies are bad, why the hell should I watch a video game TV show”, I can assure you that have been popular for quite some time. And I love them all.

Here are some TV shows based on video games that you should check out, as well as some TV shows about upcoming video games.

You’ll find that most of the shows below are from Netflix… It’s not because I’m picking up a comic-sized bag of cash from Netflix or anything, it’s just because most of the shows from video game television come from the streaming giant. Let’s go.

Esoteric

OK, seriously, I can’t stop talking about this show. I don’t say that lightly when I say it’s not only the best video game TV show, but it’s also the best Netflix Original available to stream right now. Again, I’m not even a fan of the game it’s based on, but it’s true.

Esoteric is a Netflix adaptation of League of Legends (Riot Games), the popular MOBA video game where two teams of five players battle to dominate a map, each playing as one of over a hundred unique characters.

The show, however, laser-focuses on two heroes: Jinx and Vi. These sisters are caught in the politics between Pilltover and Zaun in an emotional, action-packed story that I love more than anything right now. It’s also stunningly beautiful, with an unforgettable art style. It has been renewed for a second season.

the witcher

The second show is the witcher, another Netflix original. OK, put the fork down, I know what you’re gonna say – the witcher is based on the books, not the game. I know. However, I’m putting it here because a lot of the show’s art direction is very much like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (CD Project: RED). Also, you know, it’s hard to tell if The witcher’s cultural popularity would be anywhere near where it is right now without the game, so here it is. Sue me.

the witcher is a medieval series based on Polish folklore, following the adventures of Geralt of Rivia, a Witcher, a monster hunter devoid of most emotions. It’s an action-packed show presented by many like Netflix’s game of thrones. It absolutely slams.

Dota: Dragon’s Blood

Resuming a second season in January, Dota: Dragon’s Blood is a Netflix adaptation of another popular MOBA: DOTA 2 (Valve). It’s actually kind of funny that Netflix has the distribution rights for the League of Legends the anime and the DOTA 2 anime, two games considered competitors.

Dota: Dragon’s Bloodhowever, is very different from Esoteric. dragon’s blood adheres a bit more to anime standards, with a traditional 2D art style and a more gory approach, following a Dragon Knight and the Politics of the dota world. Like Esotericthere are a lot of callbacks to the games, but that’s a whole different show.

Carmen Sandiego

I won’t hear for a minute that this show should be excluded from the list because it’s a cartoon aimed at a young audience. by Netflix Carmen Sandiego is a fun action show for all ages, based on the popular edutainment game series of the same name (made by Broderbund).

It follows a young Carmen Sandiego, focusing on a story delving into her shady past and the mysterious organizations operating around her. Like the games, it’s focused on edutainment, keeping it classy and adding a nice animation style. It’s performed well and I found it to be quite enjoyable overall. There is also an interactive episode available on Netflix, reminiscent of the games.

Castlevania

by Netflix Castlevania is the last game we will add to our list, a gory medieval anime adaptation of the popular Konami series. Castlevania follows Trevor Belmont, a talented monster slayer from House Belmont, in an extremely gory series focusing on killing Dracula and ridding himself of his evil.

The show is well balanced across four seasons, easy to cut with short episode lengths. Some parts seem a bit secondary, but overall it’s very nice. It has a very satisfying ending too.

Upcoming Video Game Shows

While Esoteric, the witcher and Dota: Dragon’s Blood are on the way, there are plenty of upcoming video game TV shows that are still in the works. Here’s an overview of what to look for:

  • Assassin’s Creed : Yeah, there is one Assassin’s Creed series in preparation at Netflix. We don’t know much about it beyond a teaser, but we know that Die Hard’s the writer is at the helm.
  • Cyberpunk: Edge Runners: In the perspective of Cyberpunk 2077 release in 2020, developers announced anime series, with Netflix publishing it and Studio Trigger hosting it. Slated for release in 2022, we don’t know much about this anime.
  • Fall: A Fall the adaptation is underway for Amazon Prime Video. Hell yeah, the post-apocalyptic RPG is getting a TV show. We don’t know when this show is down.
  • Halo: Master Chief is coming to Paramount+. Based on the highly acclaimed Xbox exclusive Halo series, this live-action story arrives on March 24.
  • It takes two: The developer of It takes two Hazelight Studios is currently in talks to adapt the game for film or television.
  • Resident Evil: Netflix is working on a Resident Evil Television show slated for release in 2022. We don’t know much about it, but Netflix has released a four-part animation resident Evil series called Resident Evil: Infinite Darkness in 2021. It will feature an original story split between two timelines.
  • The Cuphead Show! : Release scheduled for February 18 The Cuphead Show! is a Netflix adaptation of the beloved and challenging side-scrolling cartoon game.
  • The division: Netflix adapts The division for a streaming world. Set in a post-apocalyptic world centered around special agents, the show will be produced by the director of Deadpool 2. A publish window was not specified. Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain will star.
  • The last of us: Being adapted by HBO, Naughty Dog is receiving critical acclaim The last of us will receive a television series in 2022.
  • The Witcher: Blood Origin: A Netflix prequel the witcher about 1200 years old, Origin of blood will delve into the ancient elven civilization before its fall. Michelle Yeoh will star with a slated release in 2022. A trailer has been released.

Be sure to check out our article on all the major sci-fi, fantasy, thriller, horror, and adventure TV shows and movies hitting streaming services this month.

The Karate Kid’s unexpected sequel series Cobra Kai became a success story of epic proportions on Netflix. Now that Season 4 is over and there’s a bit of a wait until Season 5, we thought we’d put together some similar TV shows to watch while you wait.

If you are unfamiliar, Cobra Kai picks up 34 years after the events of the original film and finds Johnny Lawrence seeking redemption by opening his own karate dojo and inevitably reigniting his rivalry with Daniel LaRusso.

For starters, it goes without saying that if you haven’t seen the Karate Kid movies that Cobra Kai is based on, be sure to check them out on Netflix. Once you’ve done that, here are some shows you Cobra Kai fans will definitely enjoy.

TV Shows You Should Watch If You Liked Cobra Kai

Kung Fu

Martial arts take center stage Kung Fu, a modern adaptation of the 1970s Kung Fu TV shows. The series follows Nicky Shen, a Chinese American woman who drops out of college and embarks on a journey of self-discovery to a remote monastery in China.

When she returns home to San Francisco, she finds it overrun with crime and uses her new martial arts skills to clean it up. Kung Fu has plenty of epic fight sequences that will scratch that Cobra Kai itch.

All American

If it was high school teen drama that got you Cobra Kai may i draw your attention to All American?

If you like your martial arts action with a fantasy and sci-fi edge, then In the Badlands is for you. The series is set in a post-apocalyptic wasteland where war has made society more reliant on melee and traditional weapons in combat than firearms.

A number of barons control the lands with their army of highly skilled warriors known as clippers. Searching for a way out of the badlands, a clipper saves a mysterious boy who might know the way.

Kingdom

Sitting a little darker than Cobra Kame, but with similar ideas, is Kingdom. Frank Grillo plays Alvey Kulina, a retired MMA fighter who runs his own fight room. Here, he helps fighters in his gym overcome their own issues, including his two sons.

Kingdom deals with heavy themes but is another television series which, like Cobra Kai, explores its challenges through martial arts.

GLOW

For other sports-focused comedy-dramas like Cobra Kai, look no further than GLOW. Alison Brie stars as a struggling actress who joins the Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling and begins to clash with the head director.

The series is set in the 80s, so you’ll get plenty of similar vibes to the original. Karate Kid, the more it deals with the personal and professional lives of those dedicated to their performance.

look GLOW on Netflix.

heels

The struggle shows how GLOW and heels create some of the most interesting sports drama as the characters attempt to manage their identities both in and out of the ring. heels pushes this idea to the max by exploring the face and heel dynamics of the fight between two brothers.

Stephen Amell and Alexander Ludwig star as the Spade brothers who try to keep their father’s wrestling business alive in small-town America, but can’t keep all of their personal issues out of the ring.

look heels on Stan.

Bel-Air

bel air tv show stan
Image: Stan (supplied)

Ok, this one is a bit of a gamble because Bel-Air hasn’t even aired yet, but there are several reasons Cobra Kai fans should keep an eye on it.

Bel-Air revives another beloved piece of IP after more than 20 years and gives it a modern twist. The Fresh Prince’s origin story is rebooted with a darker, more dramatic version of Will’s story as he travels from a rough neighborhood in West Philadelphia to the prestigious mansions of Bel-Air.

If you fancy a new take on the nostalgic stories of your past, Bel-Air, Like Cobra Kai, hits the mark.

You can verify Bel-Air on Stan from February 14.

If you have crossed Cobra Kai and all those other TV shows, here are some of the other titles on Netflix you can’t miss.

yellow jackets captured a nation with its history of sisterhood, teenage drama and (possible) cannibalism. But after the whirlwind first season, what do you watch next? There has to be all the intrigue and drama of a survival situation, and a dark underlying conspiracy certainly wouldn’t hurt.

Luckily, there are five shows that manage to capture a bit of yellow jackets‘lightning in a bottle, whether your favorite parts are mystery or just high school melodrama. Read on to find out how to stream your next exciting obsession.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE SCI-FI MOVIE? Tell us now for a chance to get paid to write an article for Reverse.

5. Lost

ABC

Critics of the first show compared yellow jackets was Lost. And it’s easy to see why. Both shows involve a plane crash and a wilderness that may have more than just a harsh environment. In a sense, Lost was the blueprint for every other show on this list, balancing flashbacks, flashforwards, and an unparalleled complex plot that likely created the culture of television speculation tearing the yellow jackets fandom currently.

If for some reason you haven’t seen the puzzling, heartfelt, and deeply mystical action of Lost, it is the perfect remedy for yellow jackets withdrawal, despite the fact that it was released 16 years ago.

Lost is now streaming on Hulu.

4. The Savages

First video

While yellow jackets can be called “the woman lord of the flies“, The Savages arrived first. This Prime Original series follows a handful of teenagers stranded on an island after their plane crashes on their way to a mysterious retreat. Over the next few weeks, they must learn to survive and slowly uncover the dark truth behind their fate.

While yellow jackets has flash-forwards, The Savages focuses on flashbacks, conquering tricky topics like homophobia, sexual assault, and abusive relationships. If you wish we had seen more Yellowjackets before the crash, The Savages is for you – and the sudden twist at the end is far too surprising to spoil here.

The Savages is now streaming on Amazon Prime.

3. Included between

netflix

What if, instead of a plane crash, the teenagers of yellow jackets have been blocked by a virus? It is the premise of Included between, a Netflix original series featuring a post-iCarly Jennette McCurdy in a world where a virus has wiped out everyone over the age of 21, leaving a group of teenagers stranded but still under government control.

As one of Netflix’s first original series, Included between suffers from budget issues, but over its two seasons, the show truly finds its footing as a small-town survival story. If you wish it yellow jackets was more relevant to the present day, this series is for you.

Included between is now streaming on Netflix.

2. The 100

The CW

One of the highlights of yellow jackets this is how it delivers the teen drama without feeling like a soap opera. But what may be a highlight for some might be a low point for others. For those who want something a little more interpersonal, The 100 is the teen survival drama with the CW show treatment.

The show follows a group of 100 teenagers sent to a post-apocalyptic Earth in hopes of repopulating the planet. But, like all CW shows, there’s a lot of drama to overcome before that’s possible. And with seven seasons, The 100 help you out for a while.

The 100 is now streaming on Netflix.

1. The society

netflix

The society was a show like no other. A little like yellow jackets, it’s about a group of teenagers trying to survive after a school trip goes wrong, but it’s not your typical survival drama. In the world of The society, the high school students return to their small town to find it completely abandoned. The internet is gone, but homes and infrastructure still exist.

As the title suggests, the teenagers accidentally reinvent socialism and create a tenuous society based on communal living. But when hormones and power struggles get in the way, there’s no real crime-fighting protocol. How do you deal with a murderer if you’re a 16-year-old mayor?

Sadly, The society is a short-term solution for yellow jackets withdrawal, as the series was canceled after just one season. Even if it ends on a cliffhanger, it’s definitely worth it.

Point-and-click games have come a long way since the days of lunar logic and confusing puzzles that only the most dedicated gamers could solve. However, while some of the older titles certainly deserve the reviews they receive, there are still many amazing point-and-click games from the past decades.

However, perhaps one of the best decades for point-and-click games was the 90s. Classics such as Full Throttle and Grim Fandango came out during those golden years and paved the way for future games in the genre. However, while there were certainly a plethora of amazing point-and-click games in the 90s, there are a few that stood out and still hold up today.

9 Full Throttle (1995)

90s point and click full throttle wide shot of Ben riding a motorcycle on a highway with the desert on either side of him

Full Throttle is a legendary point-and-click game from Tim Schafer that is still considered one of the best. Featuring an all-star cast including Mark Hamill and Roy Conrad, this LucasArts extravaganza featured a gripping narrative, innovative and polished gameplay, and an incredibly memorable protagonist.

While many point-and-click games at the time tended to have convoluted puzzles that detracted from the narrative, Full Throttle still manages to be a mostly accessible game. Luckily, with dedicated support from fans and guides, anyone who gets stuck just has to search for it online. However, even without guides, Full Throttle is still an amazing point-and-click game that’s still worth playing today.

Beneath A Steel Sky is a legendary cyberpunk adventure considered one of the best point-and-click games by fans of the genre. Its story and characters are memorable and endearing and its setting is so rich in detail that it immerses you from the start.

Beneath A Steel Sky also features art direction from truly iconic comic book artist Dave Gibbons, who is best known for his work on the Watchmen graphic novel. Its place in the history of the genre won’t go unnoticed, and given that it’s free on Steam, there’s really no reason why you shouldn’t play it now.

seven Tex Murphy: Under a Killing Moon (1994)

The Tex Murphy games are a renowned noir detective point-and-click series that blends the best stories told through FMVs with engaging and innovative gameplay. Under A Killing Moon is the third entry in the series and brought a number of changes including the ability to move freely in certain 3D environments.

However, while the puzzles in Tex Murphy: Under A Killing Moon are consistent and fun, it’s his sci-fi crime story that steals the show. This is absolutely a game worth checking out, if only to immerse yourself in a really fun and intriguing mystery story.

6 Blade Runner (1997)

90s Point & Click wide shot of Ray McCoy's Blade Runner stood next to a neon lit outdoor bar with a few customers seated in seats

The original Blade Runner film from 1982 is widely considered one of the best cyberpunk media. It has been referenced and used as an influence for future cyberpunk-themed media for decades since its release and despite its modest success upon release, it has become a cult classic. However, what’s perhaps equally engrossing and immersive, but significantly less well-known, is 1997’s point-and-click pseudo-sequel Blade Runner.

This point-and-click adventure is absolutely breathtaking, and its visuals no doubt hold up even today. Impressive lighting and beautiful 3D locations really bring the world imagined by Phillip K. Dick and later Ridley Scott to life. Its story is as captivating as the original film and its gameplay mechanics were innovative and fresh for the time. Its memorable cyberpunk world, narrative and characters have paved the way for dozens of incredible point-and-click titles such as the heartfelt Encodya.

5 The Longest Journey (1999)

Point and click 90s extreme wide shot of April Ryan's longest voyage descending a stone pier towards a large wooden boat as more impressive ships loom in the distance

The Longest Journey was launched at the dawn of the 21st century and yet it still looks as revolutionary today as it did then. Its beautiful blend of fantasy and sci-fi has led to the creation of one of the most unique worlds in gaming. Its captivating story and fascinating characters combined with its large number of locations have made it a long experience worth watching. worth playing.

While there’s certainly some level of lunar logic involved in a number of its puzzles, for the majority of your experience, The Longest Journey makes sense. However, despite this, it’s still a game worth playing for the worlds and story alone, although you must have a guide ready and waiting.

4 Pajama Sam: No Need to Hide When It’s Dark (1996)

Point and click 90s mid-shot of Pajama Sam: no need to hide when it's dark outside Pajama Sam stood with his back to the squirming player as a torch shone him from at the top

Pajama Sam and other Humungous Entertainment properties served as kid-friendly and educational point-and-click games of the 90s and early 2000s. perhaps one of Humungous Entertainment’s best games was Pajama Sam: No Need To Hide When Its Dark. This point and click adventure game for kids was an incredibly fun and memorable experience and it still manages to hold its own today.

RELATED: The Most Popular Point & Click Games on Steam

Although not as long as other point-and-click games, and its puzzles and themes are geared more towards children, its stunning art, wonderful soundtrack, bubbly characters and overall charm make it a title worth revisiting.

3 Grim Fandango (1998)

Point and click 90s wide shot of Manny Calavera's Grim Fandango stood in the men's bathroom as Don Copal opened the door

There’s not much to say about the quality of the classic 1998 point-and-click adventure game Grim Fandango. Its fantastical setting, colorful cast of quirky and memorable characters, and incredible protagonist have made it one of the greatest – if not the greatest – point-and-click game ever made.

It’s easily one of the most replayable point-and-click games of the 90s, thanks in part to the remasters, but also to its phenomenal gameplay. Suffice it to say, there’s a reason it’s widely regarded as one of the best point-and-click games ever made.

2 The Day of the Tentacle (1993)

Point and click 90s wide shot from Day of the Tentacle of a group of prisoners playing cards while a purple tentacle wearing a policeman's hat watches from a chair

Day of the Tentacle is one of the best point-and-click games from LucasArts. Made as a sequel to 1983’s beloved Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle is as breathtaking as it sounds. Its central cast of characters and delightfully brilliant villain are what ultimately bring this magnificent point-and-click game to life.

As with most point and click games from LucasArts, the majority of the puzzles still hold up today. While there are definitely some weird bits of logic you’ll need to get here and there, for the most part this is absolutely a game that holds its own today. Thanks to the remasters, the game looks better than ever, so there’s really no excuse not to give it a try.

1 Sam and Max Hit the Road (1993)

Point & Click 90s mid shot of Sam & Max Hit The Road of Sam and Max standing in a tent surrounded by large jars talking to two men in green with text appearing above them

Sam & Max Hit the Road is an incredibly enjoyable point-and-click game full of humor and fun mini-games that’s widely considered one of the best of its kind. Its story, much like the rest of the Sam & Max games, is as brilliantly quirky as it is fun to watch, and its gameplay was certainly innovative for its time. It introduced many new features that would later be used in later point-and-click games.

Sam & Max Hit the Road is still a lot of fun to play today due to its endearing characters and well-paced story. Its gameplay is never too convoluted and its impact on the point and click genre, and video games in general, is undeniable.. There’s a reason this series remains so beloved to this day.

Wanderlust is an inherent trait of humanity. We all want to see, hear and experience new things. Some want to climb mountains, and others want to explore strange cities. Some just want to talk to a stranger. Adventure games offer a chance to satiate that feeling in one way or another, and these games offer some of the best adventures available this year.

Without further ado, check out our list of the best adventure games of 2021 and vote for your own favorite in the poll placed at the end of the article.

Psychonauts 2 Wins Best GOTY and Best Global at New York Game Awards 2022

Check out Wccftech’s other lists of the best games of 2021: Fighters, Platformers, Strategy & Simulation, Shooters, Sports & Racing, RPGs, Horror and Indie.

Mundaun

There are old stories of how audiences reacted to new storytelling techniques. You can imagine children running away in fear as the Shadow Caster begins to spin. You’ve heard of adults diving for cover when a filmed train appeared to be hurtling towards them. Most of these stories are fake or exaggerated, but playing Mundaun feels like something is popping off the screen.

It looks hand-drawn, but not in a cute way. Looks like the doodles of an uncomfortable nightmare come to life. And it feels like that. Mundaun is an exploration of hostile landscapes and strange old world practices. If you like Folk Horror, you’ll love Mundaun.

Wccftech’s Most Anticipated Adventure Games of 2022 – Darkness & Light

To the east

Eastward is a ruined world adventure. It’s not quite post-apocalyptic, but it doesn’t get any better. There’s a coziness to the setting that the beautiful pixel art perfectly highlights and intensifies: like sitting under a blanket and watching a storm overhead.

The story involves a father/daughter relationship, which isn’t exactly groundbreaking but is well-managed, and the journey through the declining world is so imaginative and thoughtful that you can get carried away in the most cliched areas. There’s a certain way to fight, but the core of the game is more like Studio Ghibli and the movies that exist at the end of things.

Life is Strange: True Colors (9.5)

Life is Strange: True Colors is the next installment in the Life is Strange spin-off games from Deck Nine studio. These are the talented minds behind Before the Storm who explored the life and relationship of Chloe Price and Rachel Amber. In True Colors, however, they had full reign to introduce new characters and settings.

Life is Strange 2 was a bit of a mixed bag for fans. While some enjoyed exploring American culture as a whole, others preferred the more detailed examination that resulted from focusing on a single setting. True Colors does just that, letting you fall in love with the characters, places, and tragedies of small-town Colorado.

You play as Alex, a young woman with the gift/curse of magical empathy. She can sense the emotions of those around her, reading their thoughts to identify what makes them feel that way. But it comes at a cost, and strong emotions can infect it, making situations worse. His adventure revolves around his brother and the town where he settled. It is truly an incredible story and a heartbreaking journey.

The Forgotten City (8.5)

The Forgotten City is likely to become one of the most underrated adventure games of the decade. It’s utterly fantastic, redefines the genre, and contains some of the medium’s best storytelling to date. And it all started as a Skyrim mod.

The adventure of The Forgotten City is wrapped in classic mythology, but that’s only the first layer. As you explore the doomed titular city, you quickly discover ruins beneath the buildings and various stories connected to them. The town is governed by the mysterious Golden Rule which, if broken, dooms everyone, regardless of their involvement in the transgression. Remnants of the civilizations that attempted to survive under this system are all around you, but nonetheless, there is hope and agency in the characters you meet on your journey. There’s so much to explain about this game, but it’s worth discovering most of it for yourself.

Lake

There have been many simulation games that give you insight into the professions of train drivers, truck drivers, bus drivers, pilots and so many other jobs. Those who like these games are satisfied with the technical accuracy and complexity. Lake is not that game.

In Lake, you play as a temporary postman, covering a single route for two weeks. The scenery is beautiful but unremarkable, which makes it all the more fascinating to travel the same roads. There is also a story, a slice-of-life drama that unfolds among the people of the small town where you deliver. You won’t see any major twists or alien landscapes, but you’ll have the chance to escape.

Marten (9)

If you’re looking for the aforementioned alien landscapes, look no further than Sable. Inspired by the sci-fi landscapes of Star Wars and Dune, this quiet adventure has you cycling through the desert landscape in search of a mask that matches your personality.

There is no grand planet rescue mission or princess to rescue from a castle. You are simply seeking where you belong, and in doing so you must discover the world in which you dwell. It’s a fantastic trip that lasts the time it takes you to find accommodation.

Route 96

Part narrative adventure, part roguelike exploration, Road 96 is an unusual, challenging, and beautiful journey along a road to the border of a fictional country. You play as a series of teenagers each seeking their own escape from an inspiring authoritarian government. Each teenager starts at the wrong end of route 96 and you have to drive them down the highway.

Each breakpoint gives you a glimpse of the world they are trying to escape from. You will also be able to meet strangers representing the changing ideologies and why the teenagers chose to flee. You have surprising power throughout the story, though you don’t really know how your choices changed things until you reach the end.

One of the more experimental adventure games on the list, Road 96 offers something interesting and different for those yearning to explore.

Exo One transposes the humble, tactile pleasures of rolling a marble down a ravine or brushing a pebble on a crystal-clear lake into a planet-riding adventure told in all the buzzing sci-fi style of Stanley Kubrick 2001. You pilot a spherical spaceship, powered only by kinetic energy, through sterile alien panoramas, using the rise and fall of earth and your ability to increase or decrease the effect of gravity on your ship to launch your ship into the air. As you hover, you can momentarily flatten your disc-shaped ship, using air currents to provide more lift until your light power reserve runs out, when you must return to the earth below. to recharge you.

On each planet, your goal is simple: reach the ramp-shaped monolith somewhere on the horizon that projects a beam of incandescent light into the stratosphere. When hit, the monolith throws you into a vortex of rippling lights and flickering images over the next planetary body. Each planet varies considerably in terrain. One is covered with windy deserts, the other with milky, rolling seas.

Your ship is impervious to lava, cold Plutonians, and the kind of gravitational forces that would suck rivets from an airplane’s hull. Much of the tactile pleasure of the game comes from gaining momentum to soar above the earth and take in those exquisite, desolate views.

There aren’t any of the dials and tickers that typically clutter the screen in sci-fi games and movies – your HUD is blank, except for the occasional text prompt to let you know how far you are from it. monolith or raindrops spread over the screen. The uninterrupted views and rippling rhythms invite an almost meditative state, the thrill of which intensifies as your skill in maneuvering the craft increases. A joyful ride from another world.
