A child in Scotland was allegedly treated on social media and the game app Zepeto, leading police to open an investigation.

Police Scotland have confirmed they are investigating the recent incident of “online child exploitation” on the app, which happened in Wishaw.

Created in Korea, the app allows users to create an animated 3D version of themselves which they can then use to chat with others around the world, reports the Daily Record.

Police have now warned parents of the dangers social media apps such as Zepeto can pose to children.

They reminded parents to control the apps and content viewed by young people.
