Okey slams Emenike’s statement on APP formation – The Sun Nigeria

A The leader of the Peoples Action Party (APP) in Abia, Okey Umezie, has criticized a statement attributed to the flag bearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) faction government in the state, Ikechi Emenike, on the party formation.

Emenike had, in the statement, alleged that Senate Chief Whip Orji Uzor Kalu sponsored the formation of APP and funded his brother, Mascot Uzor Kalu, to contest the state governorship on the platform. -form of the party.

Speaking to reporters in Abuja, Umezie, a close political and business associate of Mascot, described Emenike’s allegations as baseless, tasteless and hollow.

“My attention has been drawn to the cacophony but vapid allegations of Emenike against the personality of Mascot Kalu, the gubernatorial candidate of APP in Abia State. While I don’t want to get into any trouble with him, it’s pertinent to say the obvious that his allegations are baseless, tasteless and hollow; therefore, I must set the record straight.

“How can he (Emenike) say that the APP was founded by Uzor Kalu, when the party in question is a national party that has existed for years? So how did Uzor Kalu, a non-party member, form it just for the 2023 elections in Abia State? ” he said.

Speaking further, he laughingly refuted Emenike’s insinuation that Mascot Kalu is funded by his brother for the upcoming elections, stating that his associate (Mascot) is a successful businessman who has reached the age of undertaking any political venture without interference from anyone. .

“For the umpteenth time, Emenike has forgotten that Mascot Kalu is an internationally renowned industrialist who has carved out an enviable place for himself in the real estate, construction, finance and banking and hospitality sectors. For more than 20 years.

“Do I need to remind him that Mascot’s entrepreneurial leap is recognized even in the United States? In June 2007, the city of Charlotte, North Carolina recognized him as one of the most powerful urban businessmen of the year. He also became a winner of the USA Democratic House Caucus Businessmen Club and the Republican House Caucus Businessmen Club in 2006 and 2007 respectively.

“Isn’t it laughable to say that such a man who built businesses in international conglomerates with a net worth of over $15 million in 2007 is being funded by his brother to run for office?” He asked.
